Frozen Lemon Technique Could Fight Malignant Tumors in The Body

Lemon is recognized as the most famous food around the world, due to its numerous health properties, and its versatility in the kitchen. The lemon juice has a very particular taste and concentrates a lot of nutrients and antioxidants essential for the proper functioning of the body, so since ancient times it was a component in hundreds of recipes and remedies.
Lemon strengthens the immune system and slows the action of free radicals to prevent the development of different diseases. An important part of the lemon nutrients are present in the peel. The peel contains a higher concentration of antioxidant compounds and essential oils, which, according to a recent study, could be beneficial to face cancer treatment.
As we said above, the antibiotic and antiviral properties of lemon have been recognized for years. These are able to slow the action of various microorganisms that cause infection and disease. Moreover, it has also been proven to be an effective treatment for worms and parasites, in cases of high blood pressure and for various nervous disorders.
Furthermore, recent studies discover lemon’s anti-cancer effects that could support the treatment of different types of this disease, taking an even more positive impact than chemotherapy.
According to data from the Organization Australian, ‘Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization’ (CSIRO), the whole lemon fruit can reduce some cancers by up to 50%.
In particular, it is estimated that a lemon whole may contain up to 22 anticancer agents, which include:
  • Limonene
  • Citrus pectin
  • Flavonol glycosides
  • Vitamin C
Namely, by having alkaline properties, it alters the environment and prevents cancer that proliferates in the body. The lemon extract has a powerful effect against cancer cells, since it is able to destroy them without altering the ‘normal’ ones, which is one of the main problems of chemotherapy.
More than 20 research studies proved that lemon compounds known as “limonoids”, present in large quantities in this citrus, are responsible for giving its anticancer power, especially against cells that cause breast cancer.
Surprisingly, it was even discovered that lemon is up to 10,000 times more effective than Adriamycin, a drug used worldwide as a chemotherapeutic treatment to stop the cancer from spreading.
Once more, the best of all is that, unlike drugs prescribed for cancer treatments, the extract of this amazing fruit does not destroy the good cells, so it is completely safe for use.
“Limonoids” would also have a positive effect on the treatment of:
  • Pancreatic cancer
  • Prostate cancer.
  • Liver cancer.
  • Colorectal cancer.
  • Neuroblastoma.
  • Lucemia.
Frozen Lemon Technique Could Fight Malignant Tumors
In order to benefit from the anti-cancer properties of lemon, you should regularly consume it, without extracting its peel and juice.
Recipe:
  • In order to feel the effects from lemon in anti- cancer causes, you should also use its peel, after you freeze the lemon.
  • Start by washing and disinfecting the fruit, using a little lemon water with baking soda or apple cider vinegar. This is very important, especially when the fruit’s origin is unknown.
  • After cleaning, refrigerate it and leave it there until it gets hard and dry.
  • Next, take it out of the fridge and use a food grater for its peel and frozen pulp.
This remedy does not have the same effect as lemon juice alone. Actually, lemon juice has amazing properties that are valued in many areas of health, but when it comes to cancer, its effects are not sufficient, so you will also add the required nutrients contained in the peel.
It is where most of limonoids and other antioxidants are in high concentrations, and they are responsible for reducing and eliminating different types of malignant tumors.
For cancer prevention, consume at least 150 grams of lemon per week.

4 Reasons to Drink Pomegranate Peel Tea

pp

I love pomegranate, it’s a wonderful fruit to incorporate into your diet because it can help reduce brain inflammation and protect against Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

After extracting the delicious aryls, do you normally throw out the pomegranate peels, right?

So did I, until I discovered their potential to help keep you healthy and happy.

During the late nineties scientists discovered the health benefits from the discarded part of this extremely beneficial fruit.

Chief amongst these discoveries were the substantial benefits you can derive from using pomegranate peels, especially in your digestive system.

So before you start tossing away what might be the best part of pomegranates, here are some key benefits to convince you otherwise.

4 Benefits of Pomegranate Peels

1. They’re a Great Tool to Fight Heart Diseases

Pomegranate peels are loaded with antioxidants. As their name might imply, antioxidants are extremely effective at eliminating oxidation from LDL cholesterol.

If your LDL cholesterol accumulates too much oxidization, it will eventually wreak havoc in your cardiovascular system, leaving you vulnerable to most heart diseases.

When it comes to antioxidants, I’ve felt that you can never get enough, especially if they come from a completely natural source.

 2.They’re Packed with Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an integral part of a healthy holistic diet. Its health benefits cover a lot of areas in your health, ranging from improving your immune system, your cardiovascular system, preventing prenatal health complications, avoiding wrinkles, and reducing your chances of developing ocular diseases.

Pomegranate peels carry enough vitamin c to render vitamin pills or tablets obsolete. This is perfect because we’re trying to base our diet’s needs on completely natural sources.

3.They’re an Effective Form of Detox

Remember the plentiful antioxidants that could help your heart? Well, here’s where they shine again. Pomegranate peels pack enough antioxidants to make them the perfect natural detox you can get your hands on.

If you ever feel the need to detox, be it to keep it in shape or if you feel like you want to spoil yourself, pomegranate peels make the perfect detox tea.

4.They Fine Tune Your Digestive System

Below this you’ll find my recipe for making pomegranate peel tea. This tea’s key strength is its ability to destroy the pathogenic cells that can wreak havoc within your gastrointestinal tract.

This makes it the perfect natural treatment for with multiple digestive diseases and their respective symptoms. They can range from diarrhea, salmonella, bile ulcers, and multiple forms of colitis.

So without further ado, here’s pomegranate peel tea recipe that’s the perfect addition to your healthy diet.

Homemade Pomegranate Peel Tea

Ingredients:

All you’ll really need is one part dried pomegranate peels to twenty parts water. For the purposes of keeping it simple think 10 to 12 grams of dried pomegranate peels paired with 200 milliliters of water.

Instructions:

  1. Place the dried pomegranate peels in an empty glass, preferably the one you’ll be using to drink it.
  2. Boil the 200 milliliters of water.
  3. Add the boiling water to the glass filled with pomegranate peels.
  4. Cover it with a lid and let it sit for 25 minutes.
  5. Do not strain it.
  6. Enjoy!

I’d recommend keeping it covered while you’re sipping it.

The Health Benefits of Eating Ginger

ginger

Ginger is in the same plant family (Zingiberacea) that includes the medicinal powerhouse turmeric, and which only recently was proven to be 100% effective in preventing the development of type 2 diabetes in prediabetics, according to a study published in the American Diabetes Association’s own journal Diabetes Care.

In the new ginger study, titled “The effect of ginger consumption of glycemic status, lipid profile and some inflammatory markers in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus,”[i] 70 type 2 diabetic patients were enrolled in a double-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical trial, the objective of which was to assess the effect of ginger consumption on glycemic status, lipid profile and some common inflammatory markers associated with the condition.

The trial participants were divided randomly into a ginger group and control group, receiving either 1600 mg ginger or a 1600 mg placebo daily for 12 weeks. The patients were measured before and after the intervention for blood sugar levels, blood lipids, C-reactive protein, prostaglandin E2 and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα).

As a result of the intervention, ginger treatment reduced the following parameters significantly compared with the placebo group:
  • Fasting plasma glucose
  • HbA1C (aka glycated hemoglobin) – a measurement of how much damage is being caused by sugars to red blood cells in the body, reflective of body wide damage caused by chronically elevated blood sugar
  • Insulin
  • HOMA (the homeostatic model assessment) – which measures insulin resistance and beta-cell function (the pancreatic cells that produce insulin)
  • Triglycerides
  • Total cholesterol
  • C-reactive protein (CRP) – a marker of inflammation
  • Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) – a marker of inflammation

No significant differences in HDL, LDL and TNFα between two groups (p > 0.05).

The researchers concluded:

“Ginger improved insulin sensitivity and some fractions of lipid profile, and reduced CRP and PGE2 in type 2 diabetic patients. Therefore ginger can be considered as an effective treatment for prevention of diabetes complications.”

This is, of course, not the first study to establish the value of ginger for diabetes. Simply dropping the two search terms “diabetes” and “ginger” into Pubmed.gov will draw up 63 results. Our database of abstracts on ginger contains a number of gems on its benefit for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes which can be viewed here: Ginger Health Benefits.

Additionally, the research on turmeric (and its primarily polyphenol curcumin) as a diabetes aid is far more plentiful, with 123 results for the search terms “turmeric” and “diabetes,” and 252 for “curcumin” and “diabetes,” on the National Library of Medicine’s Pubmed.gov database. To view our curated research on turmeric’s diabetes benefits (as well as for 600 other disorders), view our page on the topic: Turmeric Health Benefits.

How Much Was Used?

The amount of ginger used in the study amounted to 1.6 grams, which is a non-heroic, ‘culinary’ dose of approximately a quarter of a teaspoon. In the study, participants were given two doses of 800 mg, delivered twice daily, orally through capsules. This dose scheme points to the fact that higher doses does of complex plant extracts within the spice category are not necessarily better, and in fact, in some cases, may actually have effects opposite to the expectation. This study, for instance, found that rosemary at a lower dose (750 mg) improved cognition whereas a higher dose (6,000 mg) interfered with it. The point is that lower doses, as used traditionally in culinary applications, passed down to us through previous generations as ‘recipes’ (literally: ‘medical prescriptions’), may be more effective than higher ones; a perspective that obviously turns conventional pharmacological wisdom and practice on its head. Other Essential Resources for Type 2 Diabetes

The GreenMedInfo.com database now contains 350 abstracts on 180 natural substances that have been researched to have potential value in the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes, and which can be viewed on our Type 2 Diabetes Research page.  The resource also includes Problem Substances (e.g. fructose, BPA), Therapeutic Actions (e.g. yoga, low carb diets) and Problematic Actions (e.g. vaccination, microwave cooking) linked to this condition in the published research. We also have a curated health portal on Blood Sugar Problems (click hyperlink to view) which aggregates both our research sections on type 1 and type 2 diabetes and our reporting on various studies related to these conditions in greater depth.

Got Health Problems? Drink Frankincense Water. Here is How to Make It.

PicMonkey Collage

Frankincense water has been a traditional drink in the Middle East for Centuries. People in Oman and Yemen usually soak 4 or 5 pieces of this resin in water overnight and drink the water. According to their doctors, only few people over there have cancer.

Frankincense is a fragrant plant resin that comes from the Boswelllia sacra tree found in Africa and the Arabian peninsula, including Yemen and Oman.  Frankincense possesses analgesic, anti-arthritic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiseptic, astringent, carminative, digestive, diuretic, expectorant, sedative, tonic, vulnerary properties.

Scientists have found that there is some agent within frankincense which helps stop spreading of cancer. It induces cancerous cells to close themselves down. According to the latest studies,

“Cancer starts when the DNA code within the cell’s nucleus becomes corrupted. It seems frankincense has a re-set function. It can tell the cell what the right DNA code should be. “Frankincense separates the ‘brain’ of the cancerous cell – the nucleus – from the ‘body’ – the cytoplasm, and closes down the nucleus to stop it reproducing corrupted DNA codes.”]

Benefits of Frankincense Resin Water

  • Prevents digestive problems
  • Strengthens immune system
  • Works As A Natural Diuretic
  • Strengthens, tones, and lifts the skin, muscles, and internal organs
  • Promotes skin and tissue regeneration

Frankincense Essential Oil

One of the oldest known medical records from the sixteenth century B.C., the Ebers Papyrus, mentions frankincense oil. The ancient Egyptians listed the oil on hundreds of prescriptions and recipes.

Frankincense oil is one of the most highly prized essential oils in the world and one of the best oils you can use for your health.  The astringent property of frankincense oil can help strengthen gums, stop the bleeding from wounds and cuts, help with skin health, reverse signs of aging, and reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scars. Frankincense oil can break up phlegm deposits in your respiratory tract and lungs, and can relieve bronchitis-related congestion. It can suppress the production of key inflammatory cells, helping to prevent the breakdown of cartilage tissue in patients with arthritis.

Quality frankincense oil is hard to find.  Make sure you are getting the real oil. This is why I recommend Doterra Essential oils. (where to find)

4 Surprising Health Benefits of Juicing Raw Marijuana

By Healthy Holistic Living

Did you know that marijuana is a vegetable? Yup – it’s true.

The marijuana plant’s leaves and buds are actually loaded with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer compounds. These compounds are known as cannabidiols (CBD) and they make marijuana, cannabis, or whatever you want to call it, a superfood.

Yup – it’s true.

Don’t Get Dazed And Confused

But when heated, all of that goodness evaporates – it goes up in smoke and is blown away. Instead, be blown away by the health benefits of juicing the raw marijuana plant.

When heated the psychoactive compound – tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)  – is released from the plant. Most people don’t want medicine to get “high” though. Our bodies were made to receive cannabidiols and the plant does not need to be heated to get these healing properties.

We have cannabinoid receptors built-in to our bodies. Getting CBD into your body can normalize functional systems like cell communication and immune functions. This means that the systems that make up your body, from cells to organs, will talk to each other better, have a better understanding of what’s going on, and help to clean things up.

Whole Lotta Love

It’s like a good relationship – both people should talk to each other and work with each other to keep the house clean.

And with cannabinoid receptors in our brains and pretty much no other way to get cannabidiol, marijuana seems to be the perfect medicine to ensure our bodies are working at peak performance. Major league sports would disagree.

CBDs bridge the gap of neurotransmission in the central nervous system by providing a two-way system of communication that completes a positive “feedback loop” says Dr. William Courtney, a medical marijuana expert and founder of Cannabis International. This is instead of a one-way transmission which promotes chronic inflammation.

CBDs mimic the body’s natural two-way communications system.

Stairway To Heaven

“The endogenous cannabinoid system acts as a modulator in fine-tuning a lot of these systems, and if something is deranged biochemically in a person’s body, it may well be that a cannabinoid system can bring things back into balance.” – Dr. Ethan Russo, a Seattle area physician, Senior Advisor to GW Pharmaceuticals.

Juicing marijuana ensures you’ll get the healing benefits of the plant without the high. No smoking, no high, and you can ingest higher doses of the drug, which will inevitably have your system running more smoothly and you feeling better. Juicing the plant also offers versatility: you can add other fruits and veggies to make delicious juices and incorporate cannabis into your diet.

Communication Breakdown

Smoking promotes inflammation which leads to infection and potential dysfunction or communication breakdowns in your body. While lots of doctors suggest vaporizing over smoking, most promote edibles over vaporizing. But you still need to heat up the drug to make edibles. That’s why, medically speaking, juicing the plant works best.

4 Health Benefits To Juicing Marijuana

Dr. Courtney and others are working hard to legalize the drug and work it into mainstream diets. They’ve found that using cannabis as a food (instead of a smokeable) it can help prevent, diminish, and fix:

  1. Autoimmune Disorders
  2. Cellular Dysfunction
  3. Chronic Inflammation
  4. Cancer Cells

The Secret To Staying Healthy: The Lymphatic System

lymph_CE

Let’s talk about the sewer system of your body. Did you know the lymphatic system circulates, cleans, and filters all the leftover blood in the body? Surprisingly, there are three times more lymph than blood in the body. It is far too important not to educate people about this before society’s toxic, consumeristic products overwhelm our most important detoxification system.

The gut contains up to 80% of our immune cells. They’re contained in GALT, or gut associated lymphatic tissue. From our tonsils and adenoids in the throat to our colon, the gut is the storehouse of the lymphatic system. Lymphocytes, or white blood cells that are part of the lymphatic system, are also stored and made in the thymus behind the heart, the spleen, appendix, bone marrow, and lymph nodes scattered throughout the body. See how important mouth to colon health is? Why would the body put nearly our entire immune system there if exposure to food wasn’t so vital?

What is the lymphatic system’s role?

It is the sewer system of the body. The body pumps 90% blood and returns it to the heart. The other 10% comprise what is known as lymph and has no pump to return it to lymphatic channels for disposal. All viruses, bacteria, toxins, cancer cells, and chemicals are passed through the lymph, where the body is alerted if a foreign particle needs to be removed.
Just think about it! Every cancer diagnosis comes with a lymph node biopsy. Why? The lymphatics are the leftover blood which covers every organ routinely on a daily basis. If it isn’t moving properly (like in most Western countries, due to the Standard American Diet), then toxins and cancer cells cannot be emptied into lymphatic ducts which eventually lead to the detoxification methods in the liver/kidneys. Waste is then permanently disposed of by the bowels. These toxins fester in the system and are not recognized by the immune system in the lymph, but are still slowly exposed to organs where they “seed” that organ and cause metastasis.
This is how cancer spreads. This is why every diagnosis comes with a lymph node biopsy and it’s BAD news if cancer is located there. It’s been carried all over the body and Western medicine now initiates poisonous chemotherapy due to systemic spread. Chemo does not have the capability to discriminate between healthy cells and carcinogenic cells, therefore, it creates apoptosis, or cell death, for every cell in its path. This explains why it is absolutely necessary to keep the lymph system moving and healthy so it can alert the immune cells if there’s a problem and swiftly move lymph to the liver for detoxification and to the colon for removal.
The lymphatic system is exposed to a myriad of toxins daily, including cigarette smoke, pollution, exhausts, prescription pill ingredients, food additives, chemicals, and pesticides. On top of that, most of us eat improperly, so we are lacking nutrients that serve as fuel. If we aren’t putting the proper essential amino acids, vitamins, and minerals in our system, then at some point, the system will falter. Symptoms of a sluggish lymphatic system include but are not limited to:
  • Swollen fingers or bloating
  • AM Soreness/stiffness
  • Exhaustion
  • Constipation
  • Discoloration of legs
  • Breast swelling or soreness with each cycle
  • Dry or itchy skin
  • Brain fog
  • Cold hands/feet/poor circulation
  • Cellulite
Here are some simple tips to get the lymph flowing again, incorporated from Ayurvedic science:
1. Exercise! What pumps lymph? Remember, the lymph system doesn’t have a heart. Movement of muscles stimulate valves in the veins which help to churn lymph upwards towards the heart. Anything that creates moments of zero gravity also helps move lymph (think trampolines or roller coasters)! Also called rebounding, creating zero gravity helps the lymph move upwards to the heart and axillary lymph channels. This usually requires muscular effort that is pushing against gravity. With even a few seconds of no gravity, the lymph has an easier time making its return.
2. Inversions also pull lymph towards the heart from the lower extremities. What do you get when you add exercise+inversions? YOGA. Yoga has been known to detoxify and rejuvenate many sluggish lymph systems. Hot yoga also helps speed up the process through perspiration. Sweat is a potent detoxifier!
3. Positive and negative pressure from deep, diaphragmatic breathing is a great way to move lymph towards lymphatic channels. Our bodies have far more lymph than blood so pranayama breathing in yoga as well as slow, deep breaths throughout the day help to filter lymph and move it properly. Again, yoga is quite beneficial.
4. Diet is imperative. Make sure you’re eliminating boxed or processed food. Avoid GMO or pesticides. Eat whole food and accentuate a plant based diet. Eat with the seasons, meaning warm food in the winter and cooling foods in summer. The lymph literally becomes thickened like gravy once the toxin load reaches its threshold. Eat raw fruit alone on an empty stomach. In Ayurveda, it’s known for its lymph-cleansing properties. Remember, it’s far easier to prevent disease than to cure it later.
5. Dry brush in the morning. Use a natural bristle brush and brush towards the heart where the lymphatic duct is located. Lymph drains in this direction. Brush upwards on the arms and legs towards the heart, using a circular motion.
6. Drink lots of lukewarm water. Ditch the sugary drinks and sweets! Water lubricates the lymph and lets it flow easier. Cold water can actually hinder digestion. Make sure you have a fluoride filter.
7. Massages, preferably gentle, stimulate the majority of stagnant lymph up to the heart. Stress can also play a role in poor lymph flow and massages can aid with this too. There are even lymph specific massages which are skillful at removing infections through manipulation of lymph. Remember the lymphatic system is mostly immune cells!
8.  Low iodine has also been reported to be a sign of improper lymph flow. Lugol’s iodine helps to support toxin removal from lymph. Always be sure to contact your healthcare provider before starting a new medication.
9.  Eat red foods like pomegranates, cherries, beets, and cranberries! All have lymph stimulating qualities and are used in Ayurveda to cleanse the system.
Treat your body with love. It is your temple, and a healthy physical body is one of the keys to mental and spiritual health.

You Can Have Up To 30 Pounds Of Poison In Your Colon. Here is What You Can Do

colon cleanseThe colon is a vital part of a healthy, functioning body. It plays a role in digestion, in your immune system, and in maintaining the water balance in your body. The colon is the part of the large intestine extending from the cecum to the rectum. A colon that is not working properly will hold toxic waste longer than is good for you. An unhealthy colon is one that does not move the waste along efficiently enough. It  results in this toxic waste being absorbed by the wall of the colon and into the bloodstream. For a healthy colon, it takes less than 24 hours for food to transit through our body. But with modern eating habits (processed food that lacks enzymes, fibers and nutrients) the transit time slows down to 70 hours.  This results in a toxic colon and up to 30 pounds of accumulated waste.

And the most common sign of having a toxic colon is a condition called constipation.   Constipation occurs when waste materials move too slowly through the large bowel, resulting in infrequent and/or painful elimination.

Toxic colon Symptoms:

-Digestive symptoms
Constipation, bloating, diarrhea, gas, indigestion, stomach pain

-General health
Joint pain, muscle pain

-Behavioral symptoms
Depression, fatigue, anxiety, brain fog, mood swings, poor memory

-Immune system
Weak immune system, recurrent vaginal or bladder infections, skin rashes

Bernard Jensen DC, ND, PhD is one of the pioneers who used colon cleansing to improve a person’s quality of life. In his book, Tissue Cleansing Through Bowel Management, he explains the importance of colon cleansing: “the heavy mucus coating in the colon thickens and becomes a host of putrefication. The blood capillaries to the colon begin to pick up the toxins, poisons and noxious debris as it seeps through the bowel wall. All tissues and organs of the body are now taking on toxic substances. Here is the beginning of true autointoxication on a physiological level. This accumulation can have the consistency of truck tire rubber. It’s that hard and black.”

The Easiest Homemade Colon Cleanser

The Many Uses of the Mighty Moringa Tree

The Many Uses of the Mighty Moringa Tree - Fresh Moringa

Moringa oleifera is a fast-growing tree native to South Asia and now found throughout the tropics. Its leaves have been used as part of traditional medicine for centuries, and the Ayurvedic system of medicine associates it with the cure or prevention of about 300 diseases.1

Moringa, sometimes described as the “miracle tree,” “drumstick tree,” or “horseradish tree,” has small, rounded leaves that are packed with an incredible amount of nutrition: protein, calcium, beta carotene, vitamin C, potassium… you name it, moringa’s got it. No wonder it’s been used medicinally (and as a food source) for at least 4,000 years.2

The fact that moringa grows rapidly and easily makes it especially appealing for impoverished areas, and it’s been used successfully for boosting nutritional intake in Malawi, Senegal, and India. In these areas, moringa may be the most nutritious food locally available, and it can be harvested year-round.3

Personally, I grew a moringa tree for two years and I can attest to the fact that it grows like a weed. For those living in third-world countries, it may very well prove to be a valuable source of nutrition. However I don’t recommend planting one in your backyard for health purposes as the leaves are very small and it is a timely and exceedingly tedious task to harvest the leaves from the stem to eat them. You’ll likely find, as I did, that growing one is more trouble than it’s worth.

That being said, there is no denying that moringa offers an impressive nutritional profile that makes it appealing once it is harvested. You can get the benefits of moringa using fresh moringa leaves, powdered moringa, or cold-pressed moringa oil.

6 Reasons Why Moringa Is Being Hailed as a Superfood

1. A Rich Nutritional Profile

Moringa leaves are loaded with vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids, and more. One hundred grams of dry moringa leaf contains:4

  • 9 times the protein of yogurt
  • 10 times the vitamin A of carrots
  • 15 times the potassium of bananas
  • 17 times the calcium of milk
  • 12 times the vitamin C of oranges
  • 25 times the iron of spinach

2. Antioxidants Galore

Moringa leaves are rich in antioxidants, including vitamin C, beta-carotene, quercetin, and chlorogenic acid. The latter, chlorogenic acid, has been shown to slow cells’ absorption of sugar and animal studies have found it to lower blood sugar levels. As noted in the Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention:5

“The leaves of the Moringa oleifera tree have been reported to demonstrate antioxidant activity due to its high amount of polyphenols.

Moringa oleifera extracts of both mature and tender leaves exhibit strong antioxidant activity against free radicals, prevent oxidative damage to major biomolecules, and give significant protection against oxidative damage.”

Further, in a study of women taking 1.5 teaspoons of moringa leaf powder daily for three months, blood levels of antioxidants increased significantly.6

3. Lower Blood Sugar Levels

The Many Uses of the Mighty Moringa Tree - Moringa LeafMoringa appears to have anti-diabetic effects,7 likely due to beneficial plant compounds contained in the leaves, including isothiocyanates. One study found women who took seven grams of moringa leaf powder daily for three months reduced their fasting blood sugar levels by 13.5 percent.8

Separate research revealed that adding 50 grams of moringa leaves to a meal reduced the rise in blood sugar by 21 percent among diabetic patients.9

4. Reduce Inflammation

The isothiocyanates, flavonoids, and phenolic acids in moringa leaves, pods, and seeds also have anti-inflammatory properties. According to the Epoch Times:10

The tree’s strong anti-inflammatory action is traditionally used to treat stomach ulcers. Moringa oil (sometimes called Ben oil) has been shown to protect the liver from chronic inflammation. The oil is unique in that, unlike most vegetable oils, moringa resists rancidity.

This quality makes it a good preservative for foods that can spoil quickly. This sweet oil is used for both frying or in a salad dressing. It is also used topically to treat antifungal problems, arthritis, and is an excellent skin moisturizer.”

5. Maintain Healthy Cholesterol Levels

Moringa also has cholesterol-lowering properties, and one animal study found its effects were comparable to those of the cholesterol-lowering drug simvastatin.11 As noted in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology:12

“Moringa oleifera is used in Thai traditional medicine as cardiotonic. Recent studies demonstrated its hypocholesterolemic effect.

… In hypercholesterol-fed rabbits, at 12 weeks of treatment, it significantly (P<0.05) lowered the cholesterol levels and reduced the atherosclerotic plaque formation to about 50 and 86%, respectively. These effects were at degrees comparable to those of simvastatin.

… The results indicate that this plant possesses antioxidant, hypolipidaemic, and antiatherosclerotic activities, and has therapeutic potential for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.”

6. Protect Against Arsenic Toxicity

The leaves and seeds of moringa may protect against some of the effects of arsenic toxicity, which is especially important in light of news that common staple foods, such as rice, may be contaminated.13 Contamination of ground water by arsenic has also become a cause of global public health concern, and one study revealed: 14

“Co-administration of M. oleifera [moringa] seed powder (250 and 500 mg/kg, orally) with arsenic significantly increased the activities of SOD [superoxide dismutase], catalase, and GPx with elevation in reduced GSH level in tissues (liver, kidney, and brain).

These changes were accompanied by approximately 57%, 64%, and 17% decrease in blood ROS [reactive oxygen species], liver metallothionein (MT), and lipid peroxidation respectively in animal co-administered with M. oleifera and arsenic.

Another interesting observation has been the reduced uptake of arsenic in soft tissues (55% in blood, 65% in liver, 54% in kidneys, and 34% in brain) following administration of M. oleifera seed powder (particularly at the dose of 500 mg/kg).

It can thus be concluded from the present study that concomitant administration of M. oleifera seed powder with arsenic could significantly protect animals from oxidative stress and in reducing tissue arsenic concentration. Administration of M. oleifera seed powder thus could also be beneficial during chelation therapy…”

Moringa Leaves May Even Purify Water… and More

From a digestive standpoint, moringa is high in fiber that, as the Epoch Times put it, “works like a mop in your intestines… to clean up any of that extra grunge left over from a greasy diet.”15 Also noteworthy are its isothiocyanates, which have anti-bacterial properties that may help to rid your body of H. pylori, a bacteria implicated in gastritis, ulcers, and gastric cancer. Moringa seeds have even been found to work better for water purification than many of the conventional synthetic materials in use today.

According to Uppsala University:16

“A protein in the seeds binds to impurities causing them to aggregate so that the clusters can be separated from the water. The study… published in the journal Colloids and Surfaces A takes a step towards optimization of the water purification process.17

Researchers in Uppsala together with colleagues from Lund as well as Namibia, Botswana, France, and the USA have studied the microscopic structure of aggregates formed with the protein.

The results show that the clusters of material (flocs) that are produced with the protein are much more tightly packed than those formed with conventional flocculating agents. This is better for water purification as such flocs are more easily separated.”

There is speculation that moringa’s ability to attach itself to harmful materials may also happen in the body, making moringa a potential detoxification tool.

How to Use Moringa

The Many Uses of the Mighty Moringa Tree - Moringa PowderIf you have access to a moringa tree, you can use the fresh leaves in your meals; they have a flavor similar to a radish. Toss them like a salad, blend them into smoothies, or steam them like spinach. Another option is to use moringa powder, either in supplement form or added to smoothies, soups, and other foods for extra nutrition. Moringa powder has a distinctive “green” flavor, so you may want to start out slowly when adding it to your meals.

You can also use organic, cold-pressed moringa oil (or ben oil), although it’s expensive (about 15 times more than olive oil).18 As mentioned, while I don’t necessarily recommend planting a moringa tree in your backyard (a rapid-growing tree can grow to 15 to 30 feet in just a few years), you may want to give the leaves or powder a try if you come across some at your local health food market. As reported by ethnobotanist Chris Kilham, this is one plant food that displays not just one or two but numerous potential healing powers:19

“Virtually all parts of the plant are used to treat inflammation, infectious disorders, and various problems of the cardiovascular and digestive organs, while improving liver function and enhancing milk flow in nursing mothers. The uses of moringa are well documented in both the Ayurvedic and Unani systems of traditional medicine, among the most ancient healing systems in the world.

Moringa is rich in a variety of health-enhancing compounds, including moringine, moringinine, the potent antioxidants quercetin, kaempferol, rhamnetin, and various polyphenols. The leaves seem to be getting the most market attention, notably for their use in reducing high blood pressure, eliminating water weight, and lowering cholesterol.

Studies show that moringa leaves possess anti-tumor and anti-cancer activities, due in part to a compound called niaziminin. Preliminary experimentation also shows activity against the Epstein-Barr virus. Compounds in the leaf appear to help regulate thyroid function, especially in cases of over-active thyroid. Further research points to anti-viral activity in cases of Herpes simplex 1.”

Serrapeptase the Miracle Enzyme

Looking for an alternative to steroid pain relievers that is just as effective? Looking to make sure you don’t get blood clots where they don’t belong? You might look into a naturally occurring enzyme that doctors in Europe have been prescribing to treat pain, arterial plaque, scarred lung tissue, blood clots and more.

Serrapeptase is a type of proteolytic enzyme, not a brand name. It digests protein. Not only does it help digest any complete protein food you have just eaten, it scavenges unwanted proteins throughout the body. This makes it ideal for getting rid of internal organ scar tissue, plaque and fluid that builds up after an injury.

Serrapeptase was originally discovered in silkworms that use the enzyme to digest the tough Mulberry leaves they live on and, more importantly, to rapidly bore through their cocoons and fly away if predators show up.

When the enzyme is isolated and formed into a capsule, it has been shown to have powerful anti-inflammatory effects and pain-blocking abilities that rival those of aspirin and the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), without their dangerous side effects.

It can also help eliminate cancer cells before they form tumors and assist cancer remedies after tumors form.

How Do These Serrapeptase Enzymes Work?

Enzymes are catalysts that enable or speed up biochemical reactions. Just like we were told in high school chemistry, enzymes do not get consumed by the chemical reactions they start. We have around 4000 biochemical reactions that require enzymes as catalysts.

The particular enzyme activity of Serrapeptase is unique. German Dr. Hans Napier, had positive results with clearing blocked arteries and preventing the need for by-pass operations. In other words, it is effective and safe as an arterial chelation agent.

Dr. Napier also treated a woman with Serrapeptase who was scheduled to have her hand amputated. She recovered without the amputation.

This miracle enzyme works in even more ways. It is able to dissolve and break down the fibrin by-products of blood coagulation, thereby controlling blood clotting. Current research suggests it can even dissolve the fibrin coating that tumors develop to keep themselves from being spotted by the immune system.

This dissolving action gets rid of arterial plaque without harming the insides of arteries. Serrapeptase stops pain by dissolving and inhibiting the release of amines, the proteins that send the pain signal. It also facilitates the draining of excessive fluid in tissues that may cause swelling and pain.

Serrapeptase has been a standard medicine among unrestricted real healers for the past 30 years in the East and more recently in Europe. It has been found to be more effective and less problematic than the more common medical use of EDTA (ethylenediamine tetra-acetic acid) chelation for removing arterial plaque.

lipid depostitUnlike pharmaceutical statins used to remove plaque or lipids (fats) in the blood stream, serrapeptase does not block the biosynthesis of cholesterol. Ironically, cholesterol even acts as a band-aid for arterial lesions from inflammation.

Cholesterol in its pure form forms most of the brain’s tissue, it is part of our cell’s out walls, and helps create hormones that affect the body’s endocrine balance. One of those hormones initiates the process of converting sunlight into vitamin D3 organs in the body. If cholesterol’s biosynthesis is hampered, long term health such as dementia and others come about.

In addition to its cardiovascular uses, serrapeptase has been used successfully to treat arthritis, fibrocystic breast disease, lung problems, sinus problems, carpal tunnel syndrome, and sports injuries.

Some recommend serrapeptase as an anti-aging agent simply because much of aging has to do with the accumulation of scar tissue, inflammation and disregulation.

Disregulation occurs when the inflammation process loses discrimination and no longer differentiates between harmful and benign substances. After that, inflammation leads to long term autoimmune problems.

It’s Safe Enough to Trust Anecdotal Reports

There are many anecdotal reports of aches and pains vanishing from people’s lives after using serrapeptase. This natural enzyme does not suppress the immune system, and there are no known side effects, not even indigestion.

There are many sources of serrapeptase in both capsule and tablet form available online and in health food stores. Most holistic practitioners recommend that heavy doses be taken at first until a positive change occurs. Then taper off to a lighter dose.

So why is serrapeptase not a household term after being used for 30 years and found effective, safe and inexpensive?

The primary answer is that it can’t be patented by Big Pharma. And serrapeptase produces no known side effects. Therefore visits to prescribe more drugs for side effects are unnecessary. Big Pharma wont’ allow MDs to push something like that.

Keeping your pH balance in check

alkaline body

It is when we constantly eat and drink foods with an acidic effect on the body that we force our body into neutralizing those excess acids, and it is in this processing of the acids that the damage is done. The repeated neutralisation of excess acids leads to inflammation, an over-active immune system, candida overgrowth, chronic fatigue, poor digestion, weight gain and more.  By fuelling our body with alkalinity we give it those nutrients it needs to thrive, and in return, it will make you feel amazing.

Five Steps to An Alkaline pH

1. Go Green

The most alkaline foods on earth are those that contain the richest amounts of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients – and the foods at the top of that list are all leafy greens. In 2014, research published in the journal “Preventing Chronic Disease” listed the 41 most ‘powerhouse fruits and vegetables’, and the top 16 were all leafy green foods.

Try adding spinach, arugula, kale, chard and lettuce to your daily diet in juices, smoothies, soups and salads.  In teaching and coaching the alkaline diet for the past eleven years, I have found a dramatic increase in energy, weight loss and vitality in people when they can add 4 or more serves of greens (approximately one juice) to their daily diet. On those days when greens are hard to fit in, a powdered green drink or liquid chlorophyll supplement can really help.

2. Hydrate

In my experience, the vast majority of people who are struggling with fatigue or who have ongoing health struggles are chronically dehydrated. Getting enough water each day is one of those ‘to-dos’ that we often forget, because it just seems so obvious.  But so few of us get enough. The general, mainstream recommendation is 8-glasses-a-day, and even though this is actually nowhere near enough, most people don’t even reach this daily milestone! The trick is to make it easy to remember, and to set goals.  Use alarms on your phone, leave reminder notes and set habits such as always having a glass of water when you get to your desk at work, having a glass when after you clean your teeth and so on.

Starting the day with warm lemon water is a great habit to form, as it kicks off your day hydrated every day, with a nice and alkaline start. And if you switch to hydrating herbal teas, such as peppermint and rooibos, instead of dehydrating coffee & regular black tea, you’ll find yourself easily hitting your daily quota. For most people that daily target is: 1 litre of water per 40lbs (18k or 2.85stone) of body weight. It may sound a lot, but don’t try to get there on day one!  Build up to it slowly, and relax – you will get there.

3. Get Oiled

Getting enough omega oils, particularly omega 3 is critically important to so many bodily functions and processes.  Omega 3 is known as an ‘essential’ nutrient, because the body cannot manufacture it alone, it relies upon you to consume it! But so few people get enough. And nobody is to blame, it’s actually pretty hard to get enough through diet alone!  Even if you eat oily fish every day, you still wouldn’t be hitting your target. I recommend that everyone adds 2-3 tablespoons of omega 3 to their diet every day.  And if you do this, the results are fantastic. More energy, soothed digestion, soft skin, clearer thinking, better recovery from exercise and more.  Just from adding in oils!

The easiest way to add this is through supplementation, but I also recommend making your own salad dressings using flax oil, chia seed oil or walnut oil with lemon, herbs and so on.  Be creative – it’s hard to go wrong. Think about it, if you had one salad per day with your own omega-3-rich dressing, you’d be hitting 2 of these 5 steps every day!

4. Cut Out Excessive Acids

I never recommend anyone tries to be perfect with the alkaline approach (or any healthy living approach) from day one.  It’s a surefire way to give up, fast. But I do recommend you start to transition away from your habitual strong acids as quickly as you can.   The worst offenders include soda, sugar, gluten-containing grains and processed meats. If you can start to cut these back, a little each day, then you will be going a long way towards helping your body maintain that pH balance. Again, you don’t have to give it all up at once, on day one.  Just try to cut back on each and set targets for yourself.

5. Reduce Stress

Stress can have more of an impact on the body than any food or drink we consume. Why? Because when we’re under stress, the body produces cortisol. This is fine in genuinely stressful situations, but repeated stress and ongoing cortisol production can have a huge impact on the body. Cortisol serves a very important function, preparing your body for fight or flight situations.  But in doing so it shuts down all ‘non-essential’ functions changing immune system responses and suppressing the digestive system, the reproductive system and growth processes.

Needless to say, the repeated shutting down of the digestive system and altering of immune system processes is very detrimental to your health, your energy and your ability to function. And if you couple these functions with an acidic diet, you could get into trouble, quickly. Finding a way to control stress is easier said than done, but if you’re truly committed to ongoing health and vibrant energy, you simply have to!  There are so many free or inexpensive meditation and stress-relief apps available now, and they are very easy to use. And on an even more basic level, a short walk, or some moderate exercise can do wonders.

Remember, getting alkaline is not about changing your body’s pH, it is about supporting your body to maintain it’s homeostasis, to keep itself working optimally.  And when you’re in balance, your body will thrive and you will look and feel sensational.
