8 Beers That You Should Stop Drinking Immediately

Many of us choose what we eat very carefully, or at least dedicate our minimum attention to it. But when it comes to drinks, especially alcoholic beverages, we do little to make the best decisions for our health. Which is a HUGE mistake. All that hard work for your body can be ruined in a weekend out. While foods and non-alcoholic beverages are required to list their ingredients and are monitored by the FDA, beer is not. The alcohol industry has lobbied for years to avoid labeling its ingredients. Some to protect its recipes, but most – to hide harmful ingredients.

Here’s some harmful ingredients that are commonly found in beer:

-GMO Corn Syrup
-GMO Corn
-High Fructose Corn Syrup
-Fish Bladder
-Propylene Glycol
-Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
-Natural Flavors
-GMO Sugars
-Caramel Coloring
-Insect-Based Dyes
-Carrageenan
-BPA
-& lots more!

Here are the 8 beers that are commonly found in bars in The United States that you should stop drinking immediately.

1. Newcastle Brown Ale

newcastle-gmoThe Newcastle beer has been found to contain caramel coloring. Class 3 and 4 caramel coloring is made from ammonia, which is classified as a carcinogen. While alcohol is a carcinogen itself, drinking it in moderation may decrease your chances of developing cancer. However, more added carcinogens will have the opposite effect. “The one and only” beer with extra cancer causing qualities.

2. Budweiser

budweiser-gmoOne of the most popular beers, or most advertised is Budweiser. Budweiser contains genetically modified (GMO) corn. In 2007, Greenpeace discovered experimental GMO rice in Anheuser-Busch (Budweiser) beer.

3. Corona Extra

creative-corona-extra-print-ads-7I used to love Corona’s commercials. They were so peaceful and relaxing. That is until I found out that the beer contains GMO Corn Syrup and Propylene Glycol. Propylene Glycol is controversial, and is said to be potentially harmful to your health.

4. Miller Lite

Miller-Lite-GMOThis is another very popular beer in America that contains GMOs. Miller Lite contains GMO corn and corn syrup. It’s “GMO time”.

5. Michelob Ultra

michelob-ultra-gmoLess popular but still readily available Michelob beer, should be eliminated from your choices. This beer has been found to contain a genetically modified sweetener (GMO dextrose).

6. Guinness

guinness-gmo-beerGuinness is often praised for it’s smoothness.  However, several investigations proved that Guinness ingredients are quite disturbing. The beer contains isinglass, an ingredient which comes from fish bladder and high fructose corn syrup. High fructose corn syrup has been long banned from many stores and drinks.

Update: Good news! We’ve contacted Guinness and they have stated that they no longer use high fructose corn syrup in any of their beers.

7. Coors Light

Coors-Light-GMO-1Coors light is a drink that is very popular at bars and among college students.  Mostly because it’s cheap. The beer contains GMO corn syrup.

8. Pabst Blue Ribbon

Pabst-Blue-Ribbon-GMOPabst Blue Ribbon contains GMO corn and GMO corn syrup.

Healthy Beer Alternatives

So when it comes to beer you have to be very careful. Your best option is to find a microbrewery that you can trust. As with everything, try to avoid cheap, low-quality products. It’s a good indication that cheap ingredients from government subsidized GMO crops have been used to make the beer. Bars may offer Coors Light, Miller Lite or Budweiser specials, but they are cheap for a reason. The rest of the world is banning GMOs everywhere, while USA is lagging years behind, and only several states offer GMO labeling laws. Try to stay away from any American beers. Choose organic beer. Beers that contain 100% organic labels, have to have ingredients that are all 100% organic. While an “organic” label just means 95% of it will be organic.  European beer is most likely to be safe from GMO ingredients but unfortunately, most other beer contains GMO artificial ingredients, stabilizers, grains and preservatives, plus, HFCS.

Powerful Syrup to Dissolve Kidney Stones

kidney

Kidney stones are a very common, but very painful urinary disorder. They are responsible for more than 10 million doctor’s visits each year.
When you get the delight of experiencing the passing of a kidney stone, it will soon become one thing you never wish to experience again. But, fortunately for you there are natural therapies that you can use to treat kidney stones, dissolving them into smaller pieces so that they become easier to pass through the urinary tract.

What are Kidney Stones?

A kidney stone is a hard, crystalline mineral material formed within the kidney or urinary tract. They form when there is a decrease in urine volume and/or excess of stone-forming substances in the urine.

How to Resolve the Issue

There are many therapies that can be used to get the kidney stones to pass from the ureter to the bladder, and then out the bladder during urination.

Drinking large quantities of fluids can help to flush the system out, but this method can be more effective when combined with other therapies to help break the stones into pieces. The following will do just that!

Ingredients:

1 ¼ Cup Olive oil

1 ½ lemons, including rinds

1 ¼ Cup raw organic honey

1 Large bunch of parsley

1 ¼ cup maple syrup

Method:

Chop the lemons into small chunks and add them to a blender. Process the ingredients and mix well. Then, add the other four ingredients to the blender and process again until smooth. Transfer to a large glass jar with a lid and put in the refrigerator.

How Much to Take

Take One tablespoon in the morning on an empty stomach, and make sure to drink plenty o fluids during the day.

8 Things That Will Happen to Your Body if You Drink Almond Milk With Honey Everyday

captur7

With dairy products these days not being what they used to be, almond milk is becoming a better alternative to regular milk. The good news about that is the fact that almond milk has its own special health benefits, especially when coupled with honey.

Stirring a teaspoon of honey into a glass of almond milk is not only delicious, it’s extremely good for you. Here is what happens when you mix raw honey into a glass of almond milk:

1. You’ll Sleep Better
Almond milk and honey promote glucose production. That glucose helps your brain stop production of orexin, which is a chemical in your brain that keeps you awake.

2. You’ll have more Energy
Drinking a glass of almond milk mixed with a couple of teaspoons of raw honey can help you maintain healthy, natural energy levels.

3. You’ll Age Slower
Almond milk and honey are both loaded with antioxidants that help prevent the damage done by free radical in the body. The vitamins and nutrients in almond milk also help keep your body healthy.

 4. You’ll Get Sick Less Often
Honey especially has very strong antibacterial properties that help boost your immune system and fights off infection in the body. Almond milk also has immune boosting compounds, so mixed together they double the immune system benefits.

5. You’ll Have Better Digestion
Almond milk promotes digestion, and helps treat bloating, constipation, and other digestive issues.

6. You’ll Breathe Easier
Because of honey’s natural healing abilities, and almond milk’s nutritional value, the combination of the two can help ease the effects of respiratory conditions like coughs and colds.

7. You’ll Lose Weight
Almond milk is extremely low in calories and only has trace amounts of fat when compared to regular milk.

8. You’ll have Better Skin
Again, the high nutritional value of almond milk combined with honey has a great effect on your skin. Healthy skin requires a high amount of available vitamin in the blood stream, so this mixture is great for skin.

12 Ways to Eat Healthy No Matter How Busy You Are

12 Ways to Eat Healthy No Matter How Busy You Are

May 05, 2015

Busy professionals cannot waste a single second of their day. Our bodies need energy to keep moving at that pace. If you often work through lunch and go hours without even breaking for a snack, you may have difficulty concentrating and getting results from the work you’re putting in.

There are a few things you can do to keep yourself healthy while you’re powering through your day. Just a few simple changes can make a big difference in your energy levels, as well as your overall health.

1. Don’t skip breakfast.

As you’re running out the door for your early-morning meeting, the last thing you’re thinking about is stopping for breakfast. But breakfast skipping has been linked with an increase in obesity and diabetes risks, as well as morning moodiness. Here are a few quick, healthy breakfast ideas you can put together at home or once you arrive at the office.

2. Make it convenient.

You likely find you have little time to stop by the grocery store, especially during the workweek. Grubmarket  (love these guys) brings fresh food from local farmers directly to my home and office. Grubmarket’s snack pouches are perfect for keeping on hand when you want a snack. You can also have farm-fresh poultry, eggs, produce, meat, and other items delivered, saving you a trip to the store or farmer’s market.

3. Prepare in advance.

One of the best things you can do is prepare snacks and meals for your day before you leave in the morning, especially if you’ll be working through lunch. But what if there is rarely time to put a meal together in the morning? You can solve this problem by setting time aside over the weekend to prepare snacks and meals for the week. Purchase plastic containers that can be refrigerated or frozen and picked up each morning on the way out the door.

4. Invest in grab-and-go snacks.

Look around your office. If there’s nothing to snack on, you may find yourself shrugging off your hunger for hours or—worse—heading down the hall to the vending machine. Purchase healthy snack-size foods like boxes of raisins or healthy granola bars. Blue Diamond 100-calorie Almond Packs are a great way to get the many health benefits of almonds without eating an entire bag.

5. Don’t eat and work.

Multitasking has been proven to be disastrous to the waistline. Instead of distractedly munching on a salad while you’re working on a proposal, set your work aside and focus completely on your meal. Better yet, take your lunch outside on a nice day and combine the benefits of fresh air with savoring your food. You’ll have a more pleasurable eating experience and return to your desk feeling refreshed.

6. Eat and meet.

While distracted eating may be bad, socializing has its health benefits. Schedule lunch meetings as often as possible to make sure you get a good midday meal in. You could use the opportunity to take team members offsite to get their ideas, meet with clients, or network with local colleagues.

7. Stay hydrated.

Whether you like the taste of it or not, water is an important part of good health. Consider having an in-office water cooler to make it easy for you and your team members to stay hydrated throughout the day. If this isn’t a possibility, keep a small refrigerator in your office to hold bottled water.

8. Choose healthy options at restaurants.

Eating out is inevitable for a busy professional, but you don’t have to settle for greasy fast food options. Almost all restaurant chains have healthy dining options to attract health-conscious customers. To play it safe, stick with grilled instead of fried and choose sides like fruits, soups, and salads over fries or onion rings.

9. Make family dinners a priority.

Evening meals are an important time for families. Make sure you’re home every evening in time to share a leisurely meal with your spouse or your family. If you’re single, schedule regular get-togethers with friends where you enjoy a healthy meal. This will help you maintain a healthy work-life balance.

10. Grocery shop wisely.

Experts recommend spending most of your time in the outer sections of the grocery store when shopping for food. Produce, dairy, meats, poultry, and eggs should make up the majority of your shopping time, keeping you away from the packaged, preservative-filled foods in the center aisles.

11. Choose quality.

Make sure most of your diet includes nutrient-dense foods that let you accomplish more with less. Avoid sugar and empty calories and instead focus on making sure each snack and meal packs as much punch as possible. Remember, you’re going for fueling your body and mind so you can accomplish more.

12. Limit alcohol.

As tempting as it can be to indulge in a happy hour drink after work, it’s one of the worst ways to add calories to your diet. While the occasional drink or two won’t hurt, it’s important to moderate your alcohol consumption, especially if the rest of your diet is severely lacking.

If you take care of your mind and body, you’ll find you’re more productive and have more energy throughout the day. You’ll also keep yourself healthy, which will allow you to avoid visits to the doctor and ongoing illnesses. When you take care of yourself, it is not just your health that benefits — your business will to.

How To See Without Glasses, No Matter How Bad Your Vision Is

How to improve your eyesight naturally

The video below details an easy way to temporarily focus your vision when you don’t have glasses or contact lenses.  This one simple trick could come in handy if you lose your glasses.

Antioxidants such as Vitamin A, Vitamin E and C have been proven to reduce the risk of eye diseases.  Particularly, lutein and zeaxanthin are natural antioxidants which play the role of natural sunglasses. They are concentrated in the macula region of your eye and they protect you from damaging UV light and oxidative damage. The best food sources of lutein and zeaxanthin are:
-Kale
-Spinach
-Chard
-Parsley
-Chicory
-Collards
-Other leafy green vegetables.
You can also find them in:
-Pumpkin
-Squash
-Broccoli
-Brussels sprouts
-Peas

Vitamin D can drastically improve your eyesight. Consequently, Vitamin D deficiency leads to vision problems. Studies on  laboratory mice have revealed that six weeks of vitamin D supplementation led to reduced inflammation of the retina and drastically improved vision. Besides getting Vitamin D from the Sun, you need to consume foods rich in fat soluble vitamins such as organ meats. This might shock you, but wearing sunglasses can prevent you from getting proper sunlight which affects different processes in the body.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids help protect optic nerve disorders such as glaucoma. Did you know that Eskimos have a much lower rate of glaucoma than any other people because of their high intake of Omega-3 fatty acids. After all, they eat a lot of fish. Omega-3 is a tricky one: it’s called essential fatty acid because your body can not produce it on its own, it has to be acquired through food. By the way, this is one of the reasons to breastfeed because Omega-3 fatty acids are found in breast milk.  Some of the best sources of Omega-3s in food are hemp seed/oil, flaxseed and oil, English walnuts, chia seeds, salmon, and herring. If you want to know more follow this link read 32 ways to obtain Omega-3 balance.

These are just a few examples of natural alternatives that will improve your eyesight. As I said earlier, glasses and contact lenses will worsen your eyesight overtime, which your doctor has never probably told you (they are in the money making business too). But you can address the problem yourself because it starts with food, real food!

Pemmican-1Acquire about a pound and a half of lean, grass-fed shoulder roast and let that firm up in the freezer so you can slice it thin. Then add salt and pepper. Set the oven to the lowest possible temperature, about 150 degrees, and put the strips of meat directly onto the rack. Crack the oven door to prevent moisture buildup. At this point, you can also put a handful of frozen wild blueberries on a small oven pan to dry out with the meat. Let the meat dry out for about fifteen hours, or until it becomes crispy. Next, toss the meat into the food processor until it becomes a powder. Do the same with the blueberries. Before processors came around, people had to beat it to a powder with a rock!

Pemmican-3For the fat portion of pemmican, you can use tallow, which is rendered beef, mutton fat, or lard which is rendered pork fat. Cut up your fat in small pieces and place the fat into a crock pot. Set the crock pot on low heat and remove it only after it becomes completely liquid. Use a strainer to avoid all the crispy bits. All you need is the pure, liquid fat.

Mix the meat and berry powder together, then slowly add the hot liquid fat. Pour just enough so that the fat soaks into the powder but be sure to pour it in slowly.

Pemmican-5Let that firm up, then cut it into squares or roll it into a ball. If done and stored correctly it can last for decades. Wrap these “pemmican balls” in wax paper and store them in a ziplock bag in a cool, dark place.

Back in the 1800, the Metis, which is one of the recognized Aboriginal peoples in Canada, would go southwest onto the prairie, slaughter buffalo, convert it into pemmican and carry it north to trade at the North West Company posts. For these people on the edge of the prairie the pemmican trade was as important a source of trade goods as was the fur trade for the Indians further north. This is because for a serious journey, almost all foods would have been too heavy to carry. There you have it! Good luck and have fun in creating your ultimate super food.

Garlic Soup – 100x Stronger Than The Best Antibiotics On The Market

 garlicsoup

This soup, made from 50 garlic cloves, 1 red onion, and some thyme, is capable of fighting off many flu viruses, colds, and even the Norovirus.

The pharmaceutical and health care industries have massively over-prescribed antibiotics, which has lessened their effectiveness and even created antibiotic resistant diseases. With that being said, more and more people are rapidly turning back to nature to find remedies for their health problems. The winter Norovirus, also know as the the winter vomiting bug, got a lot of attention in early 2014. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, fever, stomach cramps, and headaches.

The interesting thing about garlic, is that new and mutated viruses/infections, which cannot be treated with traditional antibiotics, are still effected by the garlic. The reason behind garlic’s amazing antibiotic properties is a chemical called allicin, found within the cloves. A study preformed by Washington University has shown that garlic is 100 times more effective than 2 most popular antibiotics on the market.

Ingredients
50 cloves of organic garlic (5 garlic bulbs) cleaned and peeled
2 tablespoons of olive oil
2 tablespoons of butter
2 large bulbs of red onion, diced
1 tablespoon fresh cut thyme
6 cups (250ml) of chicken broth
fresh or dried herbs for taste (parsley, bay leaves, whatever you prefer!)
3 cups of stale bread, cubed or crushed
1 cup of sour cream

Preparation
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). While the oven warms up, chop off the heads of the garlic bulbs, spread the cloves out on some foil, drizzle in olive oil, and wrap them in the foil. Place the foil wrapped garlic in a pan, and place them in the oven to cook for about 90 minutes. Give them some time to cool once they’re done. Next, mix 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a soup pot, over medium heat. Place the diced red onion in the mixture, cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.

Now that the garlic has cooled down, grind it, and mix it together with the stewed red onion. Mix well, add the fresh thyme and other herbs. Lower the temperature and mix in the bread crumbs/cubes. Cook for about 5 minutes or until the bread softens. Remove the fresh herbs from the mixture and place in a blender or food processor until it becomes a semi-creamy mixture. Place the soup back into the pot, add in the sour cream, and feel free to add salt or pepper according to your taste preferences! Enjoy!
